Managing the Small Stuff
Golden Rule: Do Not Sweat the Small Stuff… ultimately it is all small stuff!
Many of us forget that the reason we have stress is that we are sweating the small stuff and that ultimately it is all small stuff. In other words, if it is something we can’t do anything about, there is no point in worrying about it. Many of the things we stress about are things that are caused by others. This makes it incredibly tough to control the cause of the stress. All we can do is learn how to manage the stress that we can’t avoid.
One method for managing stress is deep breathing. If possible take a deep breath and hold it in for a count of seven. Then let it out slowly, exhaling for a count of seven while imagining it going down the front of your body, down your legs and out your feed down into the ground. Do this several times and then continue with what you were doing. This breathing exercise will allow you to concentrate on something other than what you are stressing about.
