I was just reading about how President Obama is upset with the companies who have applied for bailout funds paying bonuses to their officers. Could any of this lead to stress for the rest of us? I truly wish there was something I could do to help the economy or to help out these failing organizations but I’m too busy working on my own bailout stimulus package. You know, having more of an income than my outgo? That would be great, it would be even greater if there was a little excess to go toward the future as well.
But that isn’t the way this government appears to be going today so I’m going to have to find something else to do to relieve my and your stress. Do you think we could figure out a way to spend a little less for those things we need and a lot less on those things we don’t need? For instance, I can drink water instead of sodas or coffee. I can’t believe the price of soft drinks, coffee or even bottled water these days. It is worse than gasoline! Guess I’ll have to start drinking filtered tapwater at my home. One less thing to stress about.
Of course if we stop spending on things we need and don’t need then we aren’t going to be helping those who depend on that spending for their jobs. It would be nice to think that helping them to keep their jobs will help us keep our jobs too but that probably won’t be the case. Most other people losing their jobs are in a sector that doesn’t directly affect us. This is also something else we won’t be able to control so there is no point in worrying and stressing about it. We just have to take care of what we can control as I mentioned, conserving our resources the best way we can.
Not having a job isn’t something one can deal with by doing deep breathing or exercising or taking a walk or meditating but all of these can still prevent us from going off the deep end about it. We can still be concerned about lack of a job, but if we can control the stress it causes then when it comes time to interview for a position we can present a calm peaceful demeanor which could lead to an offer. Going in all stressed out with the attitude that you just have to have this job won’t help you interview well. And it won’t hurt to do some stress relieving techniques just before going in to the interview.
So, no, I can’t do anything for your stress, but I can provide techniques for Stress Management.
