Stress Is All Internal!

Stress is the result of how we process a situation internally.  It is not something that happens to us.  It is unique to you and is based on your belief system.  Most stress management methods do not address the cause of the stress.

How can we learn about our specific stress and what to do about it?  Since everyone reacts to stress in their own unique way maybe there is an inherited ability to cope with stress but it is probably not that simple.

Studies have found that our ingrained feelings, beliefs and perceptions are basically the cause of how we react to a situation.  Our mental, physiological, and emotional reaction to an event prepare us for the flight or fight syndrome which may not be necessary.  Some even see these events as merely part of life and not worthy of getting in a fuss over.

How we perceive ourselves and our ability to handle different situations determines how we react.  If we think we are helpless or in trouble in some way, we will very likely have a greater stress response than someone who doesn’t feel threatened.  This unfortunately is totally based on our perception of our resources to handle a situation and not on if we could actually handle the situation.

The big Secret here is that we are pre-programmed by our pre-conceived notions and held captive by them.  As long as we subconsciously believe there is a problem, there will be one.  As the Bible says, “as a man thinks in his heart, so he is”.  That is a paraphrase of the actual verse but it is the truth and so The Secret tells us that if we change how we talk to ourselves consciously and sub-consciously then we will change how we act.  We can over-ride those pre-programmed mis-beliefs by changing our self talk and who and what we associate with.

The reason we have these pre-conceived mis-beliefs is due to what we learned as infants and young children.  These are powerful notions that we learned to protect ourselves or were taught as a method of protection or discipline.  This is something that can be changed with the right motivation and training.  We were programmed this way and we can be programmed differently.

First it is necessary to erase the memories that generated the programming and replace them with positive current thinking memories.  A lot of emotion went into these memories so we may need to do something really emotional to replace them.

I’m not one who can provide the necessary training for erasing memories but I can provide some assistance in managing stress brought on by those memories.
