What can you do to relieve stress at work so you don’t end up taking it home with you?
Try some of these suggestions;
- On your way to work, listen to something motivating or enjoyable. It may seem to be beneficial to listen to traffic reports while commuting but there is just so much negativity that goes along with them these days you can do without them.
- Determine to live today as though it were the best day of your life. That way, if it is the last day of your life, then it will have been the best day of your life.
- Take time each day to smell the roses and glory in the sunrise because you are alive for it. In the evening, steal a few minutes to watch the sunset and again thank your lucky stars that you are alive to see it. This sure beats the alternative.
- If you eat lunch at work, don’t do it walking around or standing up. Enjoy the meal at lunchtime. While eating lunch, don’t gossip or talk negatively about your work with others around you. If necessary, eat by yourself to prevent this negative talk.
- Before talking on the phone, take a few slow breaths and SMILE. Then make the call as you push the tension out of your voice and body.
- Pray for those who may have harmed you in the past. Wish them success and happiness and it will come back to you. Forgive those who have harmed you. Go and ask forgiveness of anyone you feel you may have harmed. When talking of others, always praise them to your co-workers. Dispose of all negativity in your thinking and life. You will reap the rewards of less stress.
- When traveling home from work, relax and enjoy something else motivating or enjoyable. As in the morning, don’t listen for traffic reports or the evening news. Dispense with the negativity and you will dispense with a lot of the stress others have to deal with. You also won’t feel like kicking the dog when you walk in the door.
These tips can relieve stress at home, on the job and in your life. Try one or all of them. They all can help.
