Relaxation Exercise
One of the reasons that we tend to get upset
with a situation is that we feel that we are
weak or wrong to feel the way we do. It
makes such a difference when we can
acknowledge that we have evry night
to feel angry, embarrassed or any of
those emotions that are hard for us.
* Try to find a quiet place and take
three deep breaths.
* Close your eyes and notice your emotions
and then place your hand on your
breastbone.
* Tap that bone very gently, and then rub it
as if you were soothing a baby’s back.
* Next, say to yourself, “I am ashamed and
angry because …” Tell the story
succinctly … for example, “My Boss
yelled at me in public… ”
* Now breathe evenly and deeply and keep
tapping and gently rubbing your
breastbone.
* Then say, “and I have every right
to be angry with him and I am fine,
and this feeling will go away.”
